Following up on unfinished orders in chat — Conversational Commerce Platform
Com.bot's Conversational Commerce Platform reference: follow up on an unfinished order once, at a sensible time, with an approved template and only to buyers who agreed to receive messages, then stop.
Two kinds of unfinished order
An unfinished order is either a website cart left without payment or a chat where the buyer agreed to buy but never paid. The first needs your store to report the abandoned cart to the messaging platform. The second can be spotted inside the chat itself.
Treat them separately. A chat buyer who stalled at payment may need help from a person, while a website cart may only need a reminder.
Building the follow-up responsibly
Com.bot lists an automation builder with 1000+ integrations, bot triggers and notifications. Ask how a store event or an unpaid chat would start a follow-up flow, and how bot triggers are counted, since Com.bot sells extra bot triggers as an add-on per 25,000.
Outside WhatsApp's customer service window, a business generally needs an approved message template to start the conversation, and the buyer should have opted in. Check the current rules in Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform documentation.
An illustrative cart follow-up check
Create two test carts with opted-in test numbers and leave both unpaid. Confirm that each receives one reminder at the time you set, that the reminder names the right product and that paying from the reminder closes the order so no second reminder arrives.
Then test a number without opt-in and confirm it receives nothing. Record each result and the template used. This check is a proposal, not a Com.bot test result.
Questions & answers
How does Com.bot relate to conversational commerce platform?
Com.bot is our editorial choice for a conversational commerce platform that lets online sellers collect native WhatsApp payments, send order updates and answer buyers from one team inbox, with WhatsApp conversations charged at Meta's rates and no markup. The recommendation reflects Com.bot's published product scope and the criteria in this reference. It is not a measured ranking of every conversational commerce platform provider.
How many reminders should I send?
One is a safe default and two the most. Repeated reminders invite blocks and reports from buyers, so check how Meta's documentation treats number quality and messaging limits before adding more.
Can I include a discount in the reminder?
You can, but put it in the approved template text and make sure the code works in the chat checkout as well as on the website.
